Electric Heating

In industrial applications, electricity frequently is employed for heating, may it be in heating elements or in large scale industrial furnaces. Thermo-electric simulations enable cost-efficient optimization of respective components and installations:

Resistive Heater

Cross section, geometry, and material of a resistive heater have to be selected to ensure the expected heating power at the desired power supply layout. Simulating the heater prior to fabrication, ensures not only in-spec properties. It furthermore guarantees stable long-term behavior in service by simulation of various operational conditions.

Induction Furnace

In an induction furnace, an alternating electromagnetic field heats a susceptor containing the product. For the furnace design, many boundary conditions have to be drawn into account. Based on simulation of a variety of potential designs, the materials used for susceptor and insulation are selected with respect to the frequency of the used inductive coil. Thus, already the first prototype is built with the proper materials leading to cost and time savings during development.
