To solve complex tasks, we utilize computer-based models to simulate material properties or process flows. These models are validated by comparison with their real-world counterparts. So, we are able to simulate variations in material properties, process parameters, or design variations and their effects on the respective product or process. Thus, virtual testing yields results in a faster and in a more cost-efficient way and at lower risk than building and testing of real prototypes.


In this context, a model is understood as the simplified representation of a technical or physical system. Simulation means the application of a model to imitate a process. Besides technical processes, also business processes could be modelled and simulated e.g., to optimize your commercial processes.
